Restoration of Senglea Land front and Gateway

The current project underway by the Restoration Unit seeks to address the problems of pollution and decay along scarp walls. The project also involves the restoration of St Anne's Gate, including the small altar inside the vaulted passage way, and the removal of the concrete flooring to reveal the original flagstone slabs that covered the terrace of St Michael Bastion and adjoining curtain.

The Bastion also contains the remains of the original Fort St Michael, which was retained in the form of a cavalier but was mostly dismantled in the 1920s to make way for the building of a new public school.
